How to make an impact

Together we can end homelessness in the Richmond region

Learn about the causes and consequences of homelessness

Despite many pervasive stereotypes about people experiencing homelessness, there is not a singular cause of homelessness. However, the leading cause of homelessness is a lack of affordable housing options. This challenge is compounded by insuffient income, health problems, fleeing domestic violence, and pervasive racial disparities stemming from institutional racism.

Ending Homelessness

Homelessness is a problem with solutions, but those solutions require outcome-focused, research-based, targeted changes in federal, state, and local policies and resources.

Advocating to local, state, and federal representatives for increased Rapid-ReHousing, Permanent Supportive Housing, and Emergency Shelter programs are proven ways to reduce the number of people experiencing homelessness in our community. Ultimately, we can end homelessness in our community through preventionary policy measures.
