Position: Diversion Coordinator
Position Type: Full-time, one year position
Reports to: Regional Coalition Manager
Supervises: N/A

 

Diversion empowers people seeking homeless assistance to find solutions to address their housing crisis. The Diversion Coordinator facilitates the planning and implementation of system-wide diversion that upholds Greater Richmond Continuum of Care’s (GRCoC) guiding principles: transparent, evidence-based & data-driven, strengths-based & client-focused, easily accessible, housing-focused, continually improving, and meeting the needs of all subpopulations experiencing homelessness. This position furthers the operations of the GRCoC coordinated entry and referral processes.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Work directly with the GRCoC coordinated entry committee to develop system-wide, best practice diversion protocols and processes that:

  • Comply with State and Federal regulations
  • Adhere to GRCoC policies and procedures related to coordinated entry

Work with relevant stakeholder groups to:

  • Implement system-wide diversion best practices
  • Assist with troubleshooting problems or concerns
  • Ensure training is provided and/or directly provide training on diversion techniques and system-wide processes to all relevant stakeholder groups.
  • Implement technology to support diversion
  • Integrate data into diversion planning and evaluation

Act as community liaison by:

  • Communicating regularly and effectively with GRCoC to address concerns
  • Developing and recommending strategies for engagement and compliance
  • Engaging in community outreach and education
  • Reporting on implementation progress

Coordinate with Homeward Community Information System (HCIS) Manger to ensure HCIS is used in support of diversion efforts including access to accurate data.
Other duties as assigned

 

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum of an undergraduate degree and two years of relevant experience
Passion for GRCoC’s mission of ending homelessness in our community
Understanding of nonprofits, local government, and regional homelessness issues
Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize work based on urgency and importance
Ability to work as a leader and as a member of a team
Ability to work occasional nights and weekend days as needed
Tenacity, conflict management, and creative problem solving skills
Excellent computer skills
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
